1934 25¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A major Class I CW spread shows on IGWT, LIBERTY, the date, and the queue.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Short die scratch WNW from the upper left of the 9.  Die gouge ESE from above the upper right I in LIBERTY.  Obverse Stage B:  Heavily abraded.  Strong E/W die scratches through the queue into the lower back of the neck.  Obverse Stage C:  Heavily abraded.  Die scratch through queue very weak.  E/W die crack through hair at the top of the head.  Reverse Stage A:  The reverse of Stage A is a Class VI doubled die listed as 1934 25¢ WDDR-001.  Massive extra thickness spread towards the center shows on USA, EPU, QURATER DOLLAR, the leaves, the branches, the eagle’s head, and the eagle’s wings.  A short die gouge runs ENE from the lower right A in STATES.  Reverse Stage B:  New reverse die.  None noted.  Reverse Stage C:  None noted.

1934 25¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A close Class I CCW spread shows on IGWT, the date, and LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found to the right of the lower 1 in the date.  A die gouge can be found SW of the Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  E/W die scratches run through the UNI in UNITED.  A die scratch runs through the bottom of the TED in UNITED.  A die scratch runs through the bottom of the STAT in STATES.

1934 25¢ WDDO-003

Description:  A close Class I CCW spread shows on IGWT, the date, and LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die gouge above the right side of the G in GOD.  Die scratch NW/SE below the E in WE.  Die scratch inside the R in TRUST.  Obverse Stage B:  Heavily abraded.  Stage A die scratches are no longer visible.  A horizontal die crack runs through the upper hair.  Reverse Stage A:  Die crack from upper leave above second L in DOLLAR to upper left R in DOLLAR.  Reverse Stage B:  Die crack between the leaves above the UA in QUARTER.  A die crack runs down the outside of the eagle’s right wing.

1934 25¢ WDDO-004

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A vertical die gouge can be found to the left of the lower 9.  A die gouge runs SE from the bottom of the 3 to the rim.  A die crack runs E/W across the base of the bust and then SW through the upper 1 in the date.  Reverse:  NW/SE die scratch between the leaves just below the arrowheads.

Description:  Extra thickness shows on the date with separation lines on the 9 and 4.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Weak motto obverse.  SSW/NNE die scratches can be found to the left of the lips.  Reverse:  None significant.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The obverse is the major doubled die variety listed as 1934 25¢ WDDO-001A.  A major Class I CW spread shows on IGWT, LIBERTY, the date, and the queue.  A short die scratch runs WNW from the upper left of the 9.  A die gouge runs ESE from above the upper right I in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A short die gouge runs ENE from the lower right A in STATES.
