1968 10¢ WMDO-001          Master Die Doubling

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on the LIB of LIBERTY and IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Will vary on each working die.  Reverse:  Will vary on each working die.

Submitted By:  John A. Wexler

Cross References:  None known

Comments:  Because this is a doubled master die, all working dies for the 1968 P, D, and S-Mint proof Roosevelt dimes had this doubling.  Consequently, all 1968 dated Roosevelt dimes have this doubling making it interesting, but worthless.  How well the doubling is seen will vary depending on working hub state, working die state, and coin wear.

1968 10¢ WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class I CCW spread shows on the date, the designer’s initials, IGWT, and LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die scratch can be found NE of the eight in the date.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found to the right of the lower M in DIME.
