1970-D 10¢ WDDR-001 “Best Of” Variety Description: A Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 6:00 shows on USA, the torch flame, the upper olive leaves and branches, the upper oak leaves and branches, and slightly on ONE DIME. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A light die scratch runs NNE from the top of the zero in the date. Obverse Stage B: A die gouge can be found NE of the zero in the date. Reverse Stage A: A light die scratch runs south from the bottom of the second U in PLURIBUS. Light N/S die scratches can be found between the top of the torch and the upper olive leaves. A die scratch runs SSW from the bottom right tip of the A in STATES. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A die scratches are weaker, but still visible. Submitted By: John A. 1970-D 10¢ WDDR-002 “Best Of” Variety Description: A Class V CW spread from a pivot at about 8:00 shows on STATES OF AMERICA, slightly on the torch flame, the upper oak leaves, UNUM, and slightly on ONE DIME. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Die scratches run SW/NE between the Y of LIBERTY and the hair above the front of the forehead. Obverse Stage B: Nearly vertical die scratches can be found to the left of the lips, nose, and eyes. Reverse Stage A: A small die gouge can be found on the inner left side of the first U in PLURIBUS. A small die gouge can be found to the left of the top of the oak leave that is to the right of the upper bands. Reverse Stage B: N/S die scratches run through the E and the P in PLURIBUS.
