1961 25¢ Pr WDDO-001          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A Class II spread towards the center shows on IGWT, the date, the lower ribbon, and the LIBE of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short diagonal die gouge can be found between the upper one and nine in the date.  Reverse:  None significant.

1961 25¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A spread towards the rim shows on IGWT.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Die scratches run SW from the neck to the right of IGWT.  Die scratches run mostly SW/NE to the right of the bust.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  Short vertical die scratches can be found between the first T and the A in STATES.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.

Description: An extremely close spread towards the center shows on IGWT, the date, and LIBERTY.

Die Markers: Obverse: Die scratches on the rim around the whole obverse. Die gouge below the last T in TRUST. Die gouges on the bottom of the queue. Large die gouge between the B and E in LIBERTY. Die gouge near the rim left of the L in LIBERTY. Reverse: Die cracks along the eagle's right rim below the U and TE in UNITED. Die gouge at the rim at about 8:30. Die gouge at the rim above the left side of the M in AMERICA. Large die gouges at the rim below DOLLAR. NE/SW die scratch on the tail feathers.

Description:  A spread towards the center shows on QUARTER DOLLAR, ERICA of AMERICA, the lower leaves, the ends of both branches, and slightly on the eagle’s tail feathers.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die gouge extends from the rim between the T and Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A short vertical die gouge can be found inside the bottom of the second R in QUARTER.  A small die gouge can be found between the tops of the I and T in UNITED.  A nearly horizontal die scratch runs through the lower A and R in DOLLAR.
