Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Extremely small die gouge at the lower left serif of the 1 in the date. Obverse Stage B: Stage A markers possibly abraded away. A die chip can be found to the right of the designer’s initials. A die chip can be found on the base of the bust north of the second 2 in the date. Reverse Stage A: Short die scratch connects the lower serifs of the R in CROSSING. E/W die scratch through the DE in DELAWARE. Reverse Stage B: Stage A markers possibly abraded away.

Die Markers: Obverse: Long die crack across the base of the bust with numerous die chips above the desinger's initials, the 21 in the date, and at the back of the bust. Die chips in the opening of the mintmark P. Small die chips and a weak pre-die break depression above the knot in the queue. Die gouge far left of the L in LIBERTY. Die gouge in the hair behind the ear. Reverse: Thin die cracks across Washington's cap, one extends slightly into the field at the tip of the cap. Large die chip in the ice above the T in QUARTER. Die gouge below the sword guard. Die gouge below the B in PLURIBUS. Die gouge left of the top of the first U in UNUM. Die gouge right of the F in OF. Die gouge at the bottom left corner of the I in CROSSING. Die gouge between the CA in AMERICA and the tail of the R in DELAWARE. Large die gouge at the rim at the tip of the sword.
