1950-S 1¢ WRPM-001

Description: S/S West

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Several NNE/SSW die scratches show to the left and right of the 1 in the date.  A die scratch runs NW from the top of Lincoln’s hair between the E in WE and the first T in TRUST. A series of short, but heavy die gouges run North from the back of the neck, just below the back of the lower hair. A strong die dot shows along the back of the vest, SSE from the lower Y in LIBERTY.  Numerous parallel NNE-SSE die scratches run above and below the BERTY of LIBERTY. A series of fine N-S die scratches show below the tip of Lincoln’s chin.  A pair of parallel N-S die scratches show on the profile at the back of Lincoln’s mouth.  Two faded concentric die scratches run close to the rim below and behind the back of the lower bust. A short die gouge shows at the rim NE from the 0 in the date.  Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs over the designer’s initials.  A curved die scratch runs from the back of the bust through the upper right side of the Y in LIBERTY. A curved die scratch runs from the lower left side of the E in LIBERTY to the lower back of the bust.  An E-W die crack shows on the back of the forehead.  Reverse Stage A:  A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the last S in STATES. A short N-S die gouge shows in the field, right of the upper C in CENT.  A fine die scratch runs South from the lower left side of the second U in PLURIBUS. A short N-S die scratch shows inside the left upper opening of the A in STATES. A series of light die scratches run North from the U in UNITED to the lower C in CENT. A die scratch runs NNW-SSE between the N and E in ONE.  Reverse Stage B: A concentric die scratch shows at the rim above the IBUS in PLURIBUS. A faded N-S die scratch shows below the left side of the vertical crossbar of the T in CENT. The die gouge (dot) above the last S in STATES is not present.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A series of die scratches run North from between the 1 & 9 in the date and end in the field below the nose. A series of N-S die scratches show below the front hair curl. A short NW-SE die gouge shows inside the D of VDB. Light die scratches run North above the TY of LIBERTY. Reverse: A N-S die scratch runs directly in the center of the O in OF. A long die scratch runs South just to the right of the vertical bar of the T in CENT. A series of light N-S die scratches run South from the first A in AMERICA and are crossed by a slightly stronger NNW-SSE die scratch. A die scratch runs North from the lower right wheat stem and cuts through the last A in AMERICA. A light die scratch runs South from the left edge of the horizontal crossbar of the first T in STATES and ends just right of the lower right side of the first S in STATES. A series of parallel N-S die scratches show in the field East of the E in ONE.

Description: S/S South

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: Numerous die scratches run generally NW through and above the 1 & 9 in the date ending in the field in front of Lincoln’s chin. Several short die scratches connect Lincoln’s upper chin to the lower lip. Numerous die scratches run N from above the T & Y in LIBERTY.  A long die scratch runs South from below the L in LIBERTY. A short die scratch shows below the V in VDB. Several short N-S die scratches show in the upper hair below and to the SW of WE. Several short N-S die scratches show below the front hair curl.  A N-S die scratch connects the bridge of the nose with the eyebrow. Several short N-S die scratches show in front of the eye. A long die scratch shows in the field to the right of the front hair curl and runs South to right of the tip of the nose. Obverse Stage B: The Stage A die scratches near the 1 & 9 in the date are present but weak. A few of the N-S die scratches in the upper hair are present but weak. All other Stage A die markers are worn away. Reverse Stage A: Several die scratches run South from left of the upper C in CENT through the N & U in UNITED and ending below the O in OF. A strong but short die scratch runs South from below the F in OF. Many parallel die scratches run South from the right side of the E in ONE and through the T in CENT. A long die scratch runs South from between the B & U in PLURIBUS ending in the field just above the upper N in ONE. A NW-SE die scratch runs through the lower U and left arm of the M in UNUM. Reverse Stage B: A very light die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the E in AMERICA ending in the field left of the upper first S in STATES. A tiny die dot shows in the field right of the upper opening of the last S in STATES.

A faded die scratch runs North from the upper chin to the upper lip. Three light and parallel die scratches run North from the upper Y in LIBERTY. A die gouge shows in the field to the right of the upper G in GOD. A heavy die gouge shows at the rim above and left of the I in IN. Obverse Stage B: A heavy die dot shows in the field North of the R in LIBERTY. The die scratches near the 1 in the date are present, but weaker. A die dot shows in the field right of the I in IN about a third of the way up. Reverse Stage A: Several faded die scratches run N-S inside the C in CENT. A die scratch runs N-S in the field NW of the upper C in CENT. Three parallel die scratches run North from the upper left side of the O in ONE. Two long die scratches run North from the tops of the E and S in STATES. A N-S die scratch shows in the field to the left of the O in OF. Several N-S die scratches run through the AMER in AMERICA and the first S in STATES. Reverse Stage B: A single die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the O in ONE. A tiny die dot shows above the E in STATES. The Stage A, N-S die scratch to the left of the O in OF is present, but weak.

Numerous parallel die scratches run NNW above the TY in LIBERTY. A strong concentric die scratch shows near the rim below the designer’s initials and the back of the bust. Numerous NNW-SSE die scratches run below the chin and through the 1 and 9 in the date. A concentric die scratch shows near the rim below the front of the bust and below the mint mark. Numerous parallel die scratches run NW-SE below the TRUS in TRUST. Obverse Stage B: Numerous light N-S die scratches run through the date and mint mark area. A NNW-SSE die scratch connects the eyebrow with the bridge of the nose. A die scratch runs SE from the rim above the upper right side of the E in WE. A strong die gouge shows at the rim above the U & S in TRUST. A strong die scratch runs NW-SE from above the S in TRUST to the left side in the last T in TRUST. A long die scratch run SE in the field below the U in TRUST. A die scratch runs SSE from the lower left side of the mint mark.  The Stage A concentric die scratch at the back of the bust by the rim is present but weak. Obverse Stage C: Die scratch under U in TRUST weak.  Die scratch right side of the E in WE weak. Concentric die scratch at rim under bust present but very faint. Die scratches at date mostly worn away. Die scratch SSE from mint mark weak. Other obverse die scratches mostly worn away. Die gouge right of the mint mark. Reverse Stage A: A long die scratch runs SW-NE through the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. Two very light die scratches run mostly South from the right lower curve in the C in AMERICA. A light die scratch runs SW-NE through the right arm of the M in AMERICA. Some light N-S die scratches show in the field to the left of the upper C in CENT. Reverse Stage B: New reverse die. Numerous mostly N-S die scratches show throughout much of the central reverse. Reverse Stage C: New reverse die. Numerous curved, but mostly N-S die scratches show through the A & T in STATES and the C & A in AMERICA. A number of N-S die scratches show along the left inside opening of the C in CENT. Several light die scratches run NNW from the upper left side of the first A in AMERICA. Numerous, light die scratches run mostly South from the lower opening of the A in STATES.

A heavy, but faded die scratch runs South from the lower left side of the E in ONE ending just below the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. A short die scratch runs North from the left upper side of the O in ONE. A die dot shows along the lower left outer margin of the C in CENT. Another die dot shows in the field north of the left side of the N in UNITED. Light die scratches run N-S above the UN in UNITED and SW of the C in CENT.

Numerous die scratches run north from the upper RTY in LIBERTY. A N-S die scratch shows almost perfectly centered inside the opening of the ear. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field below the R in TRUST. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field, SE of the O in GOD. Numerous, mostly E-W concentric die scratches show on the lower bust and lapel area. Reverse: A band of parallel, SW-NE oriented die scratches run through and below the C and E in CENT. Numerous die scratches run south from below the IBU in PLURIBUS into the upper N in ONE. A strong die scratch runs north from the lower left edge of the A in STATES. A die clash remnant shows to the NE of the N in CENT. Several N-S oriented die scratches show through the E in ONE and the T in CENT.

Obverse Stage B: The die crack on the head is stronger and runs to the rim along the right side of the W in WE. A die crack runs SW from the lower left corner of the bowtie, ending just left of the top buttonhole. A N-S die crack shows on the lower bust, NW of the first shoulder fold. Reverse Stage A: A strong E-W die scratch runs through the upper vertical bar of the T in CENT. Several die scratches run N-S through and below the C in CENT, the N in UNUM and the O in OF. A short die scratch runs South from the right side of the lower O in OF. Several light die scratches connect the upper left side of the O in ONE with the first U in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper left side of the T in CENT. A die crack runs SE to the rim on the lower right wheat stalk left of the last A in AMERICA.

A tiny tie dot shows between the lower G and O in GOD. Reverse Stage A: A die gouge (dot) shows above and between the U and N in UNITED. A die dot shows along the left upper side of the I in UNITED. A light die scratch runs N-S through the left tip of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. A light die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the E in STATES. A long die scratch runs South from the lower left corner of the N in CENT. Two parallel die scratches run N-S to the left of the right wheat stem base. A light die scratch runs South from the center of the lower curve of the C in CENT. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A die dot above the U & N in UNITED is still present. A new and stronger die dot shows North of the die dot between the U & N in UNITED. A tiny die crack runs N-S on the upper left of the second wheat kernel in the left wheat stalk.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: Extremely strong die scratches show on the neck below the ear. Two parallel die scratches run south from below and right of the 1 in the date. Two parallel die scratches run perfectly north from the bridge of the nose with the left one just grazing the tip of the eyebrow and continuing north in front of the forehead. A grouping of short die scratches run north from the upper head south of GOD. Numerous N-S die scratches show inside and in front of the ear. Numerous N-S abrasion lines show on several areas of the central bust above, below and behind the upper lapel. A strong die gouge shows on the lower bust and runs ESE from the upper B in VDB. A series of three light, parallel die scratches run south from the right edge of the upper button hole. Obverse Stage B: Most Stage A die scratches gone. Die scratches on the neck below the ear weaker. New north-south die scratches show between the 1 and 9 in the date. A strong die gouge runs NW from the back of the lower bust. Several strong N-S die scratches run through the TY in LIBERTY and to the right from the back of the bust. Numerous N-S die scratches run though IN and GOD. Faded N-S die scratches show in front of Lincoln’s mouth. Obverse Stage C: The Stage B die gouge from the lower back of the bust is present, but weak. The Stage B north-south die scratches between the 1 and 9 in the date are present, but weak. A strong die gouge (dot) shows on the back margin of the upper hair below GOD. A tiny die dot shows just below the G in GOD. A strong die gouge (dot) shows below the neck and north of the bowtie. Obverse Stage D: The Stage C strong die gouge at the back of the upper hair is still present. The Stage C die gouge (dot) above the bowtie is still present. A light SW-NE die crack shows in the back of the hair below the G in GOD and the W in WE. Reverse Stage A: Several mostly N-S die scratches run through the right side of the T in CENT. A strong N-S die scratch shows in the field equidistant from the lower T in CENT and the left edge of the central right wheat stalk. Several strong N-S die scratches connect the L & U in PLURIBUS and the O in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run NW from above and below the NE corner of the E in ONE. Reverse Stage B: Stage A die scratches worn away. Heavy finger feeder damage runs ENE through the upper E in ONE. Die scratch runs north from lower right side of first A in AMERICA. Reverse Stage C: Finger feeder damage worn away. Die scratch right of A in AMERICA weak. A grouping of tiny die gouges (dots) show just below the central E in ONE. Reverse Stage D: New reverse die. A new set of similar, but different finger feeder gouges show through the N in ONE.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: Faded die scratches run NNW-SSE on the neck area, NW of the bowtie. A strong die gouge (dot) shows below the lower left side of the mint mark. A die dot shows in front of the lower bust South of the 1 in the date. A light die crack is starting to form on the central bust behind the upper lapel. Obverse Stage B: A long die crack runs North from the hair through the central right side of the W in WE to the rim. The die crack on the central bust behind the upper lapel is stronger. A long die crack runs South on the front of the bust to the rim just behind the first shoulder fold. Two strong die gouges (dots) show on Lincoln’s face, one SW of the back of the nostril and one at the back of the chin. The Stage B die dot below the 1 in the date is still present. A light N-S die crack shows in the hair below the W in WE. Reverse Stage A: Numerous N-S die scratches cover almost the entire area of the central reverse. A strong die gouge runs NE from the upper right side of the R in PLURIBUS to the rim. Distinctive scratch patterns show inside the E in CENT, the D in UNITED and the O in OF. Reverse Stage B: Most of the Stage B die scratches are faded but still present. The die gouge from the R in PLURIBUS is present, but weak. A well-hidden die gouge runs West from the uppermost wheat kernel in the left wheat stalk.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: A multitude of fine die scratches run N-S through much of the date area with stronger ones showing inside the 9 in the date and above the upper left corner of the 1 in the date. Two parallel die scratches show on the lower bust and run North from the front of the second shoulder fold. Many fine die scratches run NW-SE through TRUST. Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs NE from the lower back of the bust. A die scratch runs NNE from the lower right side of the second shoulder fold. A NNW-SSE die scratch shows in the field right of the tip of the Nose. A short die gouge runs SW from the central left side of the N in IN. A die dot shows above the upper vertical bar of the N in IN. A die gouge shows inside the right opening of the G in GOD. A very light E-W die crack shows in the upper hair below the E in WE. The Stage B die scratches inside the 9 in the date and from the 1 are still present. One of the Stage B parallel die scratches at the front of the second shoulder fold is still present. A light die scratch runs SE from the underside of the right horizontal crossbar of the T in LIBERTY. A light die scratch runs NNE from between the upper RT in LIBERTY. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field well South of the TY in LIBERTY. Reverse Stage A: A multitude of N-S die scratches cover most of the central reverse. Heavy abrasion to remove a die clash has thinned the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT. A strong die scratch runs South from the lower left arm of the R in AMERICA. Numerous N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT with two distinctive stronger ones emanating from the upper right inner curve of the C. Distinctive WNW-ESE die scratches run through the right side of the O in OF with some crossing through the lower F in OF. Inverted “V” shaped die scratches show inside the left lower opening of the last S in STATES. A strong die dot shows just to the left of the lower T in CENT. Reverse Stage B: The Stage B abraded area on the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT is still present. The Stage B die dot left of the lower T in CENT is still present. Most of the Stage B N-S die scratches have been abraded away although the two stronger ones inside the C in CENT are still present. A die dot shows along the upper left side of the I in UNITED. A few light N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT. A die dot shows inside the lower left opening of the E in ONE.

A strong die gouge runs West from the central left side of the T in TRUST. Several short NW-SE die scratches show below the TR in TRUST. Short N-S die scratches show behind the eye and inside the temple area. Reverse: A long die scratch runs North from just above the right wheat stem through the C in AMERICA, the A & T in STATES, the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT and ends inside the central E in ONE. A long die scratch runs North from the upper right side of the U in UNITED almost to the upper left wheat tip. Numerous strong N-S die scratches run through and SE of the last A in AMERICA.

A die scratch runs North from the top of the forehead, behind the front hair curl and reappears in the field below the first T in TRUST. A very strong die dot shows NW of the S in TRUST. A strong die gouge shows at the rim NW of the U in TRUST. Several strong die gouges show at the rim SW from the I in IN. Several light die scratches run North from the top of the T in LIBERTY. Two closely spaced parallel die scratches connect the back of the hair to the back of Lincoln’s shoulder, NE of the Y in LIBERTY. Reverse: Many die scratches run South from the U & R in PLURIBUS through most of the O in ONE. A strong die scratch runs North from the upper central N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S just right of the right side of the N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S inside the opening of the C in CENT.

Obverse Stage B: Die gouge from the bowtie abraded away.  Die gouge above the R in TRUST abraded away.  Die gouge on the neck still present.  Die gouge at the eye still present.  Die clash at the throat.  Weak NE/SW die crack on the back of the shoulder. Obverse Stage C: A long die scratch runs NE from the lower front of the bust along the left side of the mint mark and between the 9 & 5 in the date. A die gouge shows at the neck, North of the bow tie. A curved die crack shows on the back of the head above the ear. A faded N-S die scratch shows in the field behind the back of the neck. Reverse Stage A: A N-S die scratch splits the central opening of the O in OF. Two closely spaced parallel die scratches run North from the upper left side of the O in OF. A die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the N in UNITED to the lower C in CENT. A die gouge (dot) shows toward the rim along the upper right side of the right wheat tassels. Two well-spaced, but parallel die scratches run SW from the right side of the B in PLURIBUS and the left side of the S in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage B: New reverse die. Die chip (dot) on the upper center of the C in AMERICA. Reverse Stage C: A light die crack runs SE to the rim from the lower right side of the right wheat stalk. A long thin die scratch runs ESE from the lower right leg of the R in PLURIBUS to almost touching the lower right leg of the N in UNUM. A short, but strong die scratch runs South in the field near the lower left side of the second U in PLURIBUS.  This die scratch intersects the previously mentioned ESE die scratch. A small die gouge (dot) shows at the upper margin of the C in AMERICA. Two long and parallel die scratches run ENE from the lower right side of the left wheat stalk below OF.  These die scratches run all the way through the lower A & M in AMERICA where they join several other parallel die scratches above and below that area. A tiny die scratch runs North from the direct upper center of the T in CENT. Two die dots, almost a letter width apart show inside the lower E in ONE. Three die dots run in a NW-SE line inside the upper opening of the E in ONE.

Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A long die scratch runs SSE from the lower tip of the chin almost to the front of the bust, left of the 1 in the date. A tiny die gouge shows on the upper margin of the hair, SE of the G in GOD. A short slashing die scratch shows in the upper hair just SE of the previously mentioned die gouge. Faded light die scratches run SSE-NNW through and between the 1 and 9 in the date . A short N-S die gouges shows on the vest, SW from the buttonhole. Obverse Stage B: A strong die gouge shows inside the lower left margin of the tail of the 9 in the date. Two long die scratches form a V to the left of the mint mark. A very strong die dot shows in the field, NW of the 1 in the date. A heavily abraded die clash shows at the throat. Heavy N-S abrasion lines show through the outer chin area. A strong die dot shows in the field East of the upper chin. Two mostly parallel die scratches run through the tip of the nose with one running all the way SE to between the 1 & 9 in the date where it crosses a strong N-S die scratch above it. Numerous NW-SE die scratches show though and NE of the T & Y in LIBERTY. A die dot shows in the field well South of the N in IN. A short N-S die scratch shows just in front of the eye. A strong die dot shows in the field, well East of the mint mark and below the 5 & 0 in the date. Obverse Stage C: The Stage B die gouge is still present in the tail of the 9 in the date. The die gouge to the NW in the 1 in the date is still present. Die clash at throat faintly visible. Most other Stage B die markers are either much weaker or missing. A faded die scratch runs WNW from the central left side of the W in WE. Obverse Stage D: Die gouge in 9 faintly present. Die gouge NW of 1 faintly present. All other Stage C die markers worn away. Numerous N-S die scratches show to the left of the 1 in the date. A strong die gouge shows along the lower right side of the 1 in the date. A “V” shaped die scratch shows on the neck NW of the bow tie. N-S die scratches show on the cheek, west of the back of the mouth. Strong N-S die scratches show inside the upper shoulder fold. Light, N-S die scratches show on the back of the neck SW of the lower ear. Light, parallel die scratches run N-S directly behind the back of the head. A strong, but faded die scratch runs north of the 5 in the date. A strong die gouge runs south from the lower last T in TRUST. A die gouge runs south from the rim at K-2. Reverse Stage A: A small die gouge shows on the upper left side of the vertical bar of the T in CENT. Light parallel die scratches connect the upper T in CENT with the lower E in ONE. A die dot shows East of the upper horizontal crossbar of the E in ONE. Two faded N-S die scratches show in the field to the left of the E in ONE, SE of the previously mentioned die dot. A small die gouge shows on the lower margin of the C in CENT and a faded die scratch runs South from this gouge. Reverse Stage B: The Stage A small die gouge on the lower margin of the C in CENT and the faded die scratch running South are weak, but visible. The Stage A die gouge along the upper left side of the T in CENT is still present. The Stage A die scratches to the left of the opening of the E in ONE are barely visible. All other Stage A die markers are worn away. A tiny die dot shows between the lower N and E in ONE. Two other tiny die dots show NE of the upper right side of the N in CENT and below the left side of the E in ONE. Reverse Stage C: A die crack runs to the rim from the upper left side of the left wheat stalk. The die gouge on the upper left side of the T in CENT is still present (This die gouge shows in all known die stages).  A die dot shows inside the opening of the N in CENT. A small die dot shows along the left upper margin of the upper E in ONE. A die dot shows to the right of the lower opening of the E in ONE. Reverse Stage D: New reverse die. A light die crack shows on the central left wheat stalk NW of the U in UNUM. A single die scratch runs south from the lower M in AMERICA. A very light die scratch runs north from the upper left arm of the N in UNITED. A faded N-S die scratch shows inside the central opening of the C in AMERICA. A die gouge (dot) shows along the back of the E in ONE just east and above the central crossbar. A tiny die scratch runs north from the upper left edge of the E in CENT.

Description: S/S East

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: A strong series of die gouges show at the rim right of the last T in TRUST at approximately K-2:30. An additional die gouge shows at the rim at K-3:00 (These die gouges show in all known die stages). Faded die scratches run North from the RTY in LIBERTY with a stronger one emanating from the upper right side of the T in LIBERTY. A NW-SE die scratch shows on the lower bust to the left of the B in VDB. Light concentric die scratches show at the back of the lips and on the beard. A WSW-ESE die scratch shows on the upper cheek, SE of the eyelid. Obverse Stage B: The die gouges at K-2:30 and K-3:00 are present, but weaker (These die gouges show in all known die stages). A short die gouge runs South from the lower margin of the shoulder, just left from the V in VDB. Obverse Stage C: The die gouges at K-2:30 and K-3:00 are present, but weaker (These die gouges show in all known die stages). Two very strong SW-NE die scratches run through the R in TRUST. The Stage B, short die gouge that runs South from the lower margin of the shoulder, just left from the V in VDB is present and stronger. Fine concentric die scratches show at the rim above IN GOD WE T. A short SSW-NNE die crack shows in the upper hair below WE. A short die gouge runs SW from the lower left side of the W in WE. Reverse Stage A: Two parallel, but widely spaced N-S die scratches run through the O in OF and to the left of the first A in AMERICA. These die scratches continue South to the lower left wheat stem. Very light die scratches run North from the upper left side of the N in UNITED. A long N-S die scratch runs South from between the M & E in AMERICA. A long die scratch runs North from the upper right side of the last A in AMERICA. Several short die scratches run North from the lower right wheat stem. A well-hidden die dot shows on the lower left wheat stalk SW of the U in UNITED and between the third and fourth kernels from the bottom (This marker is present in Stages A & B).  Reverse Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper central margin of the vertical crossbar of the T in CENT. The previously mentioned Stage A die dot between kernels three and four is still present. A tiny die gouge shows along the upper right margin of the right wheat tassels. Reverse Stage C: New reverse die. Numerous N-S die scratches show throughout most of the reverse. Some notable ones include a strong scratch inside the E in ONE and a distinctive die scratch pattern through the UNI of UNITED and OF.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: A concentric die gouge shows along the rim from K-9:30 clockwise to between the N of IN and the G in GOD. A strong series of die scratches run North from the T in LIBERTY. A strong die dot shows NE of the upper I in IN. Die damage shows at the rim SW of the last T in TRUST at approximately K-2:00. A grouping of N-S die scratches shows on the neck, NW of the bow tie (These die scratches are present in all known die stages). Two short, but strong die gouges run SE from below the lower central chin area. A long, but faded group of die scratches run North form the 19 in the date and end in the field just below nose level. Obverse Stage B: The Stage A die damage at the rim SW of the last T in TRUST at approximately K-2:00 is present, but weak. The Stage A concentric die gouge along the rim from K-9:30 clockwise to between the N of IN and the G in GOD is present and strong. The Stage A die scratches running North from the T in LIBERTY are still visible. The Stage A die dot NE of the I in IN is much weaker. Obverse Stage C: Most Stage A and B markers are still present. A die clash line shows at the throat above the bowtie. Obverse Stage D: The Stage A-C die scratches on the neck and North from the T in LIBERTY are still present. The die clash at the neck has been heavily abraded leaving numerous N-S die scratches. A fresh series of N-S die scratches connect the lower nose with the upper chin. Obverse Stage E: The Stage A-C die scratches North from the T in LIBERTY have been reduced to two long parallel scratches.  The die scratches on the neck NW of the bowtie are still present. The die damage at the rim below the last T in TRUST is completely missing. The N-S die abrasion marks at the neck are present but weaker. Reverse Stage A: A strong series of die scratches run N-S though the E in ONE. Two short die scratches run North from the upper left side of the horizontal crossbar in the T in CENT (Visible in all known die stages). A short die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the O in OF. Light N-S die scratches show through and below the AMER in AMERICA. A strong die scratch runs South from the lower left corner of the E in STATES to the right side of the last A in AMERICA. A small die gouge (dot) shows along the upper left margin of the U in UNITED. Reverse Stage B: Most Stage A die markers are present but weaker. A new die scratch runs North from the apex of the O in ONE. Reverse Stage C: Most Stage A and B markers are still present. Evidence of a die clash shows inside the lower right opening of the C in CENT. Reverse Stage D: Nearly all of the Stage A-C markers are worn away. The light die scratches running North from the upper left side of horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT are still present. A light N-S die scratch shows between the E and R in AMERICA. The short die scratch running North from the upper left side of the O in OF is barely visible. Reverse Stage E: The die scratch running North from the apex of the O in ONE and the Two short die scratches that run North from the upper left side of the horizontal crossbar in the T in CENT are the only markers that remain. A fresh die dot shows above the right tip of the lower horizontal crossbar of the E in STATES.
