1991-D 1¢ WDDR-001 "Best Of" Variety
Description: Extra columns can be found in Memorial bays 2, 3, 9, 10, and 11. An extra column can also be found to the left of the 1st Memorial column. Doubling to the bottom of the Memorial can also be found below the left side of the Memorial north of the ON of ONE. A slight rotation is evident especially on the extra columns on the left and the doubling below the Memorial.
Die Markers: Obverse: Several die scratches run ENE from the upper right L in LIBERTY. A short, vertical die gouge can be found just to the right of the N of IN. Reverse: A short die scratch runs SSE from the rim above the left side of the 2nd S in STATES. A short, vertical die scratch can be found to the right of the top of the T in CENT.
Comments: The initial impression from the hub was apparently offset (Class IV) and slightly rotated (Class I) with respect to the latter hubbing(s). The extra columns on the left are clearly tilted with respect to the normal columns as is the doubling below the left side of the Memorial.
Extra columns can be found in the 2nd and 3rd Memorial bays and to the left of the 1st Memorial column. Doubling of the bottom of the Memorial can be found below the left side of the Memorial above the O and N of ONE.
Strong extra columns can be seen in the last three Memorial bays.

Die Markers:Obverse: Two die gouges (dots) show between the
letter N in IN and the G in GOD. WNW-ESE oriented die scratches run through the
letters ERTY in LIBERTY. A series of die scratches run SE from Lincoln’s nose
and forehead.
Reverse: A die scratch runs mostly
E-W below the FG initials. A series of E-W oriented die scratches run in the
field above ONE. A series of mostly E-W oriented die scratches run through the
letters TED in UNITED.
