1997-D 1¢ WDDR-001

Description:  Bar extended from the upper hand to the lower leg on the right of the statue on the seventh column.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die chip can be found at the top left of the E of LIBERTY.  A die chip can be found on top of the left side of the crossbar of the 7 of the date.  A die chip can be found below the right upright of the U of TRUST.  Reverse:  Die chip in the field well above N in ONE centered below bay 3.

1997-D 1¢ WDDR-002          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  Parts of extra Memorial columns can be found in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, and 11th Memorial bays.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A better grade specimen is needed to determine whether or not there are any significant die markers.  Reverse:  A better grade specimen is needed to determine whether or not there are any significant die markers.

1997-D 1¢ WDDR-003

Description:  Doubling shows on the left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s legs.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A small die gouge can be found north of the R in LIBERTY.  A small die gouge can be found inside lower E in LIBERTY.  A die gouge can be found SE of the G in GOD.  A die gouge can be found well to the left of the I of IN.  Die gouges can be found well north of the 99 in the date.  A short diagonal die gouge can be found to the left of the upper mint mark.  Obverse Stage B:  No Stage A markers could be identified and it remains uncertain if this is a new obverse die.  A die gouge can be found below the mint mark.  Reverse Stage A:  A die gouge can be found touching the right-side middle of the S of PLURIBUS.  A small die gouge can be found between the lower A and M of AMERICA.  A die gouge can be found just to the right of the lower T in CENT.  Two die gouges can be found to the left of the O in ONE.  One die gouge can be found inside left O in ONE.  A small die gouge can be found at the bottom of the 9th Memorial bay.  Die gouge inside D in UNITED abutting the right side.  Reverse Stage B:  Several Stage A markers are still visible including the die gouge touching the right-side middle of the S of PLURIBUS, the small die gouge can be found between the lower A and M of AMERICA, the die gouge inside left O in ONE.  All remaining Stage A markers are worn away.  Die gouge at rim slightly right of the first A in AMERICA.

1997-D 1¢ WDDR-004         "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A nearly horizontal partial extra column runs through the upper right side (viewer’s left) of the statue.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs from WSW to ENE between the upper L and I of LIBERTY.  Die pitting can be found to the left of the lower 1 in the date.  Reverse:  A die gouge can be found to the left of the top of the 1st Memorial column.  A strong die gouge can be found between the bottom left side of the Memorial and the O in ONE.

1997-D 1¢ WDDR-005

Description:  Doubling shows on the right side of the 6th Memorial column to the left of the statue and on the upper right side of the statue’s legs.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found in the center fold of the vest to the right of the upper arm.  Reverse:  A die gouge touches the upper left side of the 2nd A in AMERICA.  Die gouges can be found to the right of the lower 12th column and just above the right Memorial base.  A die gouge can be found on the right Memorial base to the left of FG.  Die gouges can be found to the left and right of the upper T in CENT.  A die gouge touches the lower left of the T in CENT.  A die gouge can be found in the upper 2nd Memorial bay.  A die gouge can be found on the Memorial roof north of the 3rd bay.  Die gouges can be found just above the roof south of the E in EPU and south of the 1st U in UNUM.

Description:  Bar extended from the upper hand to the lower leg on the right of the statue on the seventh column.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  A die chip is present between 99 in the date centered between the upper numbers where they are closest to each other.  A die chip above 7 in the date is present.  A vertical die scratch is present above the left side of the second T of TRUST running to the rim.  Obverse Stage B:  Die chips between 99 and above 7 in the date still visible.  Die scratch above left of T in TRUST barely visible.  Reverse Stage A:  A vertical die scratch can be found at the rim to the right of the second A of AMERICA.  Die chip left of T in CENT approximately one third from the top.  A vertical die scratch can be found above the left side of I in UNITED running to the rim.  A die chip abuts the left side of column 5 at the level of the statue hand.  Reverse Stage B: All Stage A markers are still visible, though the I in UNITED is weaker.  A die chip can be found touching the upper left base of the memorial.  A die chip can be found at the upper left corner of the N of UNUM.  A die chip can be found touching the center left side of T in UNITED.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Thin die scratch extends NW from the left side of the 1 in the date. Thin NW/SE die scratches above and left of the 7 in the date.  Reverse: Short N/S die scratch right of the D in UNITED. Short N/S die scratch near the rim above the O in OF. Small possible scratch (or damage to the plate coin) between the A and T in STATES.
