1996 1¢ WDDO-001

Description:  A spread towards the rim shows on LIBERTY, GOD, and the 19 in the date.  Extra thickness shows on the remaining letters of IGWT, the upper hair details, and the 96 in the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None noted.  Reverse:  Light die gouges can be found between the first T in STATES and the E in EPU.  A short die gouge can be found at the bottom of the last Memorial bay.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found to the right of the T in CENT.

1996 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A very close CW spread from a pivot at about 3:00 shows on the lower letters of LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found above the left side of the B in LIBERTY.  A small die gouge can be found well north of the E in LIBERTY.  A small die gouge (dot) can be seen inside the first nine in the date.  Reverse:  None noted.

1996 1¢ WDDO-003          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A CCW spread from a pivot at about 12:00 shows on LIBERTY, IN GOD, the lower front of the bust, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found to the right of the lower G in GOD.  Die gouges can be found below the second nine in the date.  Reverse:  Two strong parallel die scratches run NNE/SSW through the lower right Memorial base and into the field above the T in CENT.

1996 1¢ WDDO-004

Description:  A close spread towards the rim shows on LIBERTY, IGWT, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found on the back of the neck just above the collar.  A small die gouge can be found just below the center of the collar.  Reverse:  A small die gouge can be found at the center of the Memorial steps.

1996 1¢ WDDO-005          “Best Of” Variety

Description:  A strong CW spread from a pivot at about 9:00 shows on GOD WE TRUST, the lower front of the bust, the eyelid, the upper front hair details, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die gouge extends from the rim above the O in GOD.  Die pitting can be found below the RTY in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  A short die crack runs NW from the upper right of the N in CENT.

1996 1¢ WDDO-006

Description:  A strong extra hair strand or a possible partial extra earlobe can be seen south of the ear.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge can be found inside the center of the first nine in the date.  Numerous die scratches running mostly SW/NE can be seen in the field to the right of the profile.  Reverse:  Three die gouges can be found to the right of the lower T in CENT.

1996 1¢ WDDR-001

Description:  An extremely close spread shows on USA as notches on the lower letters, on ONE CENT as notches on some of the upper letters, on EPU as notches on the lower letters, and as light extra thickness to the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  The field is pitted around the date.  Reverse:  Small die gouges can be found below the T in UNITED.  Feeder finger die gouges run through the O in ONE.

1996 1¢ WDDR-002

Description:  A close spread shows on the lower left Memorial, ONE CENT, the entire right side of the Memorial, the last two columns, FG, and as a notch on the lower right first A in AMERICA.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None noted.  Reverse:  A die crack runs across the roof above the last five columns through the C in AMERICA and out to the rim.  A die crack can be found at the top of the 9th column.  A small die gouge (dot) can be found in the upper left of the 2nd bay.  A die gouge can be found at the rim to the left of the left Memorial base.

Description:  Partial extra columns can be found in the 6th, 7th, and 8th Memorial bays.

1996 1¢ WDDR-005

Description:  Bar extended from the elbow to middle of the knee to the right of the statue on the seventh column.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Light die scratches run NNW from the date and left of the date.  Light vertical die scratches are present behind the neck.  A vertical die gouge is present between the lower W and E of WE.  A strong die gouge is present just in front of the top of the hair under R of TRUST.  Reverse:  A die gouge is present left of the memorial base.  A die gouge is present between the lower O and N of ONE.  A die gouge is present between the upper C and E of CENT.  A die gouge is present right of the lower T of CENT.  A die gouge is present between A and the second T of STATES.  A die gouge is present abutting the rim above the left side of M of AMERICA.  A vertical die scratch runs from the top left to lower right inside of the second U of UNUM.  A light die scratch runs north through the upper memorial bay 11, up through the cornice, and up through the roof.

Description:  Bar extended from the top of the shoulder to the upper leg to the right of the statue on the seventh column.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Crisscrossing die scratches are present in front of Lincoln’s face and neck and behind Lincoln’s neck.  Reverse:  Crisscrossing multidirectional die scratches are present throughout the memorial bays.  A heavy die gouge is present to the right of the lower N of ONE.  Die gouge present below the left side of C of CENT.  Small die gouges are present right of the N of CENT.  Heavy die scratches run NE/SW through the right memorial base and FG.  A die gouge is present southeast of the second dot above the memorial roof.
