Die scratches extend south from the bottoms of the 1 and 9 in the date. A die scratch runs south from the underside of Lincoln’s chin. Obverse Stage B: Only the die scratch running north from the top of the 1 remains. The die gouges noted for Stage A also remain. A die clash mark can be found just to the right of Lincoln’s throat and another to the left of the back of his neck. Reverse Stage A: A vertical die scratch can be found between the lower U and N of UNUM. A short die scratch extends NNW from the upper center of the diagonal crossbar of the N in UNITED. Reverse Stage B: The die scratch between the lower U and N of UNUM is gone. Die clash marks can be found between the C and E of CENT and between the upper N and T of CENT. A small die gouge can be found inside the lower left side of the C of CENT.
