1930-D 1¢ WDDR-001

Description:  Class VI extra thickness shows on the letters of EPU, the dots, both wheat ears and stems, and slightly on the letters of USA.  The spread to all of the doubling gets stronger as you go from left to right across the reverse.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Several die scratches running NW to SE show on the center of the neck and beard SSE of the earlobe.  A die scratch runs north to south to the right of the earlobe.  Abrasion spikes run north towards the rim from the tops of most of the letters of IGWT.  Obverse Stage B:  Stage A markers are still present.  A die crack runs west to east on the bust above the designer’s initials (V.D.B.).  Reverse Stage A:  A light die scratch runs SSE from the left leg of the N in UNITED through the O in OF.  A light die crack runs along the right side of the vertical bar of the T in CENT.  Reverse Stage B:  The die scratch is still present but it is much weaker.  The die crack on the T of CENT is heavily chipped.  Die chips and small die cracks show on the left side of the vertical bar of the T in CENT.  A die crack shows on the right side of the horizontal bar of the T in CENT.
