1966 1¢ WDDO-001          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A nice CW spread from a pivot at about 7:00 shows on IGWT, Lincoln’s eyelid, the front of the vest, and the date.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  Die scratches run ESE from the vest to the left of the date.  Die scratches run NNW from the 1 and 9 in the date.  Die scratches run from NNW to SSE to the right of the upper head.  Obverse Stage B:  Die scratches extend SE from the forehead.  Reverse Stage A:  None noted.  Reverse Stage B:  A die scratch runs from NW to SE through the right cornice.  Several die scratches run from west to east though the letters of ONE.

1966 1¢ WDDO-002

Description:  A CCW spread shows on the top right of the second T in TRUST.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A nearly horizontal die scratch can be found just above the chin.  Reverse:  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the T in CENT.

Description:  Slight doubling shows below the horizontal bar of the L in LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs SW/NE between the R and T in LIBERTY.  Several die scratches run SW/NE to the left of the back of the neck and the shoulder.  Reverse:  A strong die clash mark can be found in the lower third Memorial bay.

Description:  A very close CW spread shows on the top left of the second T in TRUST.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge (dot) can be found WNW of the one in the date.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs from the left cornice to the top left of the T in UNITED.

Description:  A very close CW spread shows on the top left of the second T in TRUST.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A small die gouge (dot) can be found just to the right of the center of the nose.  Reverse:  A die scratch runs WSW from the bottom left of the N in UNITED.  Parallel die scratches run NNE from the top of the N in CENT.

Description:  Doubling shows below the horizontal bar of the L in LIBERTY.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found south of the U in TRUST.  Several die scratches run SSW/NNE to the left of the back of the upper head.  Reverse:  A small die gouge can be found below the S in PLURIBUS.  A small die gouge can be found below the right side of the second A in AMERICA.

Description:  A close CW spread shows on the second T in TRUST.

Die Markers:  Obverse: A die scratch shows near the rim under the right lower bust.  A die scratch shows southeast of the second 6 in the date.  Reverse:  A die gouge is present northeast of FG.  Several horizontal die scratches are present in between the lower right memorial columns.

1966 1¢ WDDR-001          "Best Of" Variety

Description:  A strong Class I CW spread shows on USA, EPU, ONE CENT, the designer’s initials, and the left and right Memorial bases.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Numerous die scratches run from NW to SE through the letters of LIBERTY.  Die scratches run from NW to SE to the right of the upper head.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  Die scratches run from NNW to SSE inside the C of CENT.  A die scratch runs from WNW to ESE through the upper O in ONE.  Other die scratches can be found throughout the reverse.
