Description:  Strong extra thickness and Class II separation shows on ONE CENT, USA, the lower left and lower right sides of the Memorial, and slightly on EPU and the designer’s initials.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  None noted.  Reverse:  A short strong die gouge runs north from the upper left of the N in UNITED.  Die scratches run WNW/ESE above the left end of the roof.  A small die gouge can be found to the left of the center of the N in CENT.

1999-D 1¢ WDDR-002

Description:  A strong partial extra column runs SSW/NNE through the pedestal curving north near the upper end between the statue’s feet and the 7th column.

1999-D 1¢ WDDR-003

Description:  Strong doubling shows on the left side of the 7th Memorial column.  A strong extra leg shows between the statue’s legs.  A weaker extra leg shows to the left of the statue’s right leg.

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Stage A:  First obverse.  Die gouge one third up from the bottom of the 9, between the first and second 9 in the date.  Die gouges under S and T in TRUST.  Die gouge well south of T in LIBERTY.  Die gouge in the hair, at the level of the bottom of the ear, halfway between the back of the head and the ear.  Stage B:  Second obverse:  Die gouge northeast of the mint mark.  Die gouge well southwest of T in TRUST at the level of the mid forehead.  Die gouge on the vest, left of the mint mark.  Small die gouge (dot) under O in GOD.  Die gouge well south of T in LIBERTY, slightly further west than the first obverse gouge.  Horizontal linear die gouge above I in LIBERTY.  Stage C:  Third obverse.  A strong die gouge can be found just below the G of GOD.  A die gouge can be found well east of Lincoln’s lower nose.  Two die gouges can be found well southwest of ST in TRUST, at the level of the eyebrow.  Two small die gouges can be found well north of the B in LIBERTY.  A strong die gouge can be found well south of ER in LIBERTY.  A die gouge can be found on the vest, to the west of the date.  A raised die gouge can be found on the jacket at the level of the bottom of Y in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  Stage A:  Die gouge just touching the underside of the outside of the 12th column.  Die gouge touching the right inside of column 1 approximately one-eighth of the way from the bottom to the top of the bay.  Stage B:  Die gouge on 12th column and first column worn but still visible.  Die gouge on top of E in PLURIBUS.  Die gouge left of the first U in UNUM.  Die gouge just right of the upper roof.  Several small die gouges are present under C in AMERICA.  Die gouge above the right cornice.  Die gouge left of lower N in ONE.  Die gouge inside lower right E in ONE.  Stage C:  The Stage A markers are both visible but extremely faint.  All Stage B markers are still visible though slightly weaker.  A die gouge is present just left of the upper column 7.  A small die gouge can be found touching the lower left T of UNITED.  Small die gouges are present inside the lower right M in AMERICA.  Two small die gouges can be found north of the G in the designer’s initials.  A die gouge can be found right of the lower T in CENT.  A die crack runs along the left side of column 2.  A die crack runs along the left side and well below column 3 along the left side of the left buttress with tripod.  A die gouge touches the top left side of the first U in UNUM.
