1848-D $5G WRPM-001         “Best Of” Variety

Description:  D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs NW from the crossbar of the 1 to the star.  A die scratch runs NW from the rim to the first star.  Two small die gouges can be found at the rim by the 3rd and 4th stars.  Reverse:  A die crack runs from the upper serif of the E in STATES to the O in OF.  A die chip can be found between the 6th and 7th rows of vertical bars about 1/3 from the bottom.  A die crack runs from the top left serif of the U in UNITED through the bottoms of the letters in FIVE.
