Description:  D/D North

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die gouge protrudes from the bottom right of the L in LIBERTY.  Reverse:  The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1940-D 10¢ WDDR-004.  A short, vertical die gouge can be found above the N in ONE.

Description:  D/D North

1940-D 10¢ WRPM-005         "Best Of" Variety

Description:  D/D North

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A:  The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1940-D 10¢ WDDO-004.  A spread towards the center shows on the date.  Obverse Stage B:  A new obverse that is not a doubled die is now paired with the reverse.  No significant die markers were detected.  Reverse Stage A:  The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1940-D 10¢ WDDR-001.  Doubling shows on STATES OF, the top of the axe, the top of the fasces, and the upper right leaves.  A die scratch runs SSE from the right side of the center bands.  Reverse Stage B:  The die scratch from the center bands has been abraded away.  Light abrasion scratches mostly running from SSW to NNE can be seen throughout the right side of the reverse.

Description:  D/D South

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die scratch runs from SSW to NNE between the S and T of TRUST.  Reverse:  A strong die dent runs through the bottom right side of the D in DIME.  Numerous die scratches run from NW to SE in the area of the mint mark.

Description:  D/D West

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A die gouge can be found below the right side of the U in TRUST.  A die scratch runs WNE from the upper left of the I in LIBERTY.  Numerous other die scratches can be found throughout the obverse.  Reverse:  A die gouge runs from west to east through the bottom of the O in ONE and the left star.

Die Markers:  Obverse Stage A: Die gouge at the rim near 6:15 o’clock.  Obverse Stage B: Die gouge is weaker.  Reverse Stage A: Weak die clash at the lower left olive branches.  The reverse of this variety is also a doubled die that is listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1941-S 1¢ WWHR-001.  Doubling shows on the last S in STATES, OF AMERICA, the right star and the IME of DIME.  Lighter doubling shows on the upper olive leaves of the right side.  Reverse Stage B: Die clash is very weak.  Die gouge on the lower left inside of the E in AMERICA.

1942-S 10¢ WRPM-005         "Best Of" Variety

Description:  S/S Southwest

Die Markers:  Obverse:  Three short die scratches run NNW from the top of the D in GOD.  Two nearly parallel die scratches run from north to south to the left of the lips and chin.  Reverse:  The reverse is also a doubled die that is listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1942-S 10¢ WDDR-001.  Doubling shows on the left leaves and small branches, the lower right leaves, the left star, and slightly on some of the letters in EPU, ONE, and DIME.  A short die gouge protrudes from the top left of the 2nd S in STATES.  A short, heavy die scratch runs NNE from the bottom right inside of the C in AMERICA.

1942-S 10¢ WRPM-006

Description:  S/S West

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short slanted die gouge can be found above the left side of the 1st T in TRUST.  Reverse:  Remnants of a die clash run through the outer leaves of the left olive branch.  Remnants of a die clash run from the lower olive branch to the fasces.

1942-S 10¢ WRPM-007

Description:  S/S North

Die Markers:  Obverse:  A short die scratch runs ESE from the bottom right of the B in LIBERTY.  A die crack runs from the rim to the left of the T in LIBERTY well into the bonnet.  Reverse:  Parallel die scratches run from the bottom of the U to the bottom of the E in UNITED.  A die gouge can be found below the R in AMERICA.  A die gouge can be found below the 2nd A in AMERICA.
